Dan’s is the solution. The export settings solution only works if your dark edge happens to be a problem in an exported file. It doesn’t work if your glow is in a precomp being layerer over something else inside After Effects

I spoke too soon! Changing the render engine solves the one problem but introduces another! Now the essential properties of the precomp don’t adjust individually. If I change them in on one instance of the precomp, it changes them in all instances.

Then you must not be using layers. To get layers and editable text together you need to export in CMYK mode.

No, but that’s just it. If you export to PSD in RGB mode, the editable text option is greyed out / not available.

Your little P.S. saved me! What a crazy process!

Step 1: Export Illustrator graphic as a CMYK Photoshop file.

Step 2: Open the file in Photoshop and convert it to RGB and save it again.

Step 3: Open the Photoshop file as a composition in After Effects.
