Just an FYI regarding the 5D MKII 30p setting ….

…. it is truly 30p; not 29.97 as some have assumed.

Regarding the HDMI output, the 5D doesn’t have this. But the 5D MKII does. And it is only FULL 1080 on playback; not while recording…unfortunately.

You may want to check out the Magic Lantern wiki site. The person(s) over there have worked wonders for the 5D MKII camera in regards to third party firmware.

Is the Dell S2409W a “glossy” screen? The frame around the monitor looks glossy as well…so for utilizing this in a production environment would be (at least to me) distracting.

The HP2475W is also a decent monitor too; albeit a tad more pricey.

[Keith Pratt] “They are quite explicit that it does RGB over HDMI,”

So connecting the LHi, via HDMI, to the Dreamcolor will result in proper signal and color that this monitor requires…correct?

    Have you done this?

And if so, how does it look to you?

March 3, 2009 at 11:10 pm in reply to: New MacPros yes i want one!

The benchmarks on the Apple site compare the previous generation 3.2ghz 8-core vs. the current 2.93ghz…which shows a performance gain…albeit a slight one.

Just curious though, if one was to choose the 2.26ghz 8-core setup; what the benchmarks would be rated at compared to the 3.2ghz?

If I am not upgrading from any previous computer (as this will be my first purchase), is the minimum (8-core) configuration (the two 2.26ghz setup) worth it or should I just consider the top of line (the two 2.93ghz $$$$!!) setup?

The apps I will be running will be:

    FCS2

On the Bootcamp side; Vista 64bit –
    Vegas Pro (64bit)
    Audition 3
Adobe CS4 (possibly, not sure yet)

Can anybody forsee any problems that I may need to be aware of in regards to running these apps on the new MacPros?

    Thanks Pierre.

I suppose it would work if I just go back and forth between Edius and AE. I don’t know if there are any hidden “gotchas” doing that, but it seems like it would work, don’t ya think?

Thanks all!! It’s nice to see the vendors replies as well. True customer service!!

I’ve been reading that it’s easier to do speed changes (slow and fast) when the footage is Interlaced. But it’s nice to know that Twixtor can handle Progressive footage as well. I’ll give the demo a try.
