Hi,
I’m also wondering if someone like walter biscardi is still on PP or did he switch to AVID? And what about Autodesk Smoke?
I started editing many years ago on MEDIA100 and than switched to FCP version 1.2, so I’ve got about 12 years editing experience with FCP.
I’ve been testing everything and my findings are:
PP: ok, fast, but somehow not as smooth as FCP7 (specially with audio) and I don’t like it’s ‘cluttered’ look, also I’ve got green flashes now and then in the final rendered products.
AVID: Solid but a kind of old fashioned. Steep learning curve Not good for special FX like speeding up footage etc. In my opinion at best as in ‘straight editing’.
FCPX: Looks very good, steep learning curve, extremely stable (never had a crash), easy to give your edits a modern look, magnetic timeline is brilliant, quicker than any other editing program… until you have to mix you’re audio… that is a terrible mess and that’s the moment where you will loose all the time you just won…
So… what are your findings?
Cheers,
André Buurma
