I hear you! I find this crazy annoying as well. Especially because iMovie 11 (only that version) had continuous skimming. When you reached the end of the line the pointer was jumping one line below at the beginning.

I just tried it, you still can go through all your content in the viewer in iMovie 11 and skim continuously. This actually works the best with a trackball. But it probably would work as well with the Magic Mouse.

All FCP only users. You REALLY have to try this in iMove 11. Press Caps Lock to activate it. This has to be seen to believe. This is is insanely useful. I really have a hard time with FCPX because I miss this feature so much.

Continuous PLAYBACK does not really help. I want continuous skimming!
