September 4, 2008 at 11:02 pm in reply to: DVCPro HD 720p24 Firewire capture – dropping frames

Thanks for your responses. The other thing that is happening is the material is out of sync. I also tried capturing with the Kona 3 – DVCPRo HD Varicam 720p24 – and it captured it properly, and the TCs didn’t jump 2 and 3 frames. As well I didn’t have TCs of 10.20.15.47 – once the frame hit 29 – the next frame was 00. It would drop the odd frame, but not 2 or 3 – for example when I loaded with firewire it would go from 10.20.15.10 to 10.20.15.13 in the next frame. The Kona capture went from 10.20.15.10 to 10.20.15.11 to 10.20.15.12.

I do have access to the Kona 3 – and can continue loading with it – but there are 15 tapes that I load via firewire that I think I may have to reload – so that the material is in sync.

Thanks for your response. I have not yet worked in DVDSP with a L21 file. Is there a way to set the “start” to the closed captioned file? In almost all cases we only capture one second of black prior to the start of the program. Am I going to have to capture more – and then adjust in DVDSP in order for the captioning file to line up? Thanks again – I appreciate your help on this one.

June 3, 2006 at 4:27 pm in reply to: P2 Store, files locked won’t transfer to Mac

I just tried making a disk image of the partition in the P2 store, Using Disk Utiltity. I set it to Read/Write – uncompressed, also Read Only – Uncompressed. Send it to my Hard drive, as well as tried to an external firewire Drive (800) – both times after 1 min. it failed with : ‘unable to create .dmg input/output error.

Have I missed a step – or is the media on the P2 store really this difficult and unreliable to access?

Thanks for your response! I have found that it has been hit and miss. I tried switching it back and forth from PC to MAC a couple times, and then tried transferring it again – and I got it to work. And then I got it to fail again. Not exactly the performance I was looking for.

Also finding the transfer time from the P2 card to the P2 Store slow. It took over 10 mins. to transfer 2.5 GBs. Verification was on – but my understanding from what I have read, is it should be faster than that. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Andrea
