  • P2 Store, files locked won’t transfer to Mac

Curious if anyone has had this problem, and knows a work around. I am able to mount the P2 Store on my laptop (G4 PowerPC 17″ 1.67 GHz), but when I try to copy the files off to my internal HD, or and external Firewire drive (800), I get an error which states:
“The finder cannot complete the operation because some data could not be read or written” (Error code -36).

If I copy off a P2 Card – no problems. It seems to be having trouble with the locked files on the P2 store, but not the locked files on the P2 card. Shouldn’t they tranfer the same?

    Any suggestions?

I’ve been having the same problems with my P2 store, it’s very frustrating. Some of the fixes that have been said to help is to copy the .txt file first and turn off the motion sensor in the P2 Store. Apple is recommending making a disk image of each partition and copying that. BTW I don’t think the copy problem is due to the files being locked more to some sort of read error. I’m actually going to load windows XP on my MBP just to update the firmware on my P2 cards and P2 Store and get the ability to turn the motion sensor onoff – wondering if anyone has done that with success.

Thanks for your response! I have found that it has been hit and miss. I tried switching it back and forth from PC to MAC a couple times, and then tried transferring it again – and I got it to work. And then I got it to fail again. Not exactly the performance I was looking for.

Also finding the transfer time from the P2 card to the P2 Store slow. It took over 10 mins. to transfer 2.5 GBs. Verification was on – but my understanding from what I have read, is it should be faster than that. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Andrea

I just tried making a disk image of the partition in the P2 store, Using Disk Utiltity. I set it to Read/Write – uncompressed, also Read Only – Uncompressed. Send it to my Hard drive, as well as tried to an external firewire Drive (800) – both times after 1 min. it failed with : ‘unable to create .dmg input/output error.

Have I missed a step – or is the media on the P2 store really this difficult and unreliable to access?
