Been awhile sorry… I’m using FCP 6. I solved what might be part of my problem by using ProRes to capture. I read about on this forum. But is 1080i60 easy set up better? ANd more importantly why don’t I have that option in my pulldown menu? I understand now HDV and and DVCPro are different formats for different cameras. Thank you for explaining so graciously. I am learning as I go. I read cow forums all the time. Its very helpful. Is there a book or site you can recommend for information about all the different capture, sequence settings and compression settings? Its hard to navigate all the forums to find exactly the information I need.

I’m on a new project now. HEre are the specs: Sony cmos camera, using HD minidvs with HDV 1080i settings on camera. I will output eventually to DVD and web. Currently my settings for capture are:

sequence- HDV 1080i60
Capture- HDV
device- Sony HDV firewire.

Should I be using sony HDV firewire setting or sony HDV 1080i50 firewire for device control?

Now when I put the clips in my timeline the pop up menu says change sequence to match blah blah blah and when I say yes my clip is too big. Why?

Can you explain the use of the ProRes settings?
I read elsewhere on this forum that one should delete clips after capture from browser and then re import from finder. Why?

IF you have the time I would love a response, if not I understand my questions are elementary and if you could direct me to a good book or website I would be just as grateful.
