I wonder if all this locking up and crashing is related to the new SW codec. I have the darndest times rendering titles created in M100 all of a sudden. I may try going back to the hardware codec.

Apparently it has something to do with AE renders with the SW codec and placing titles over those movies in the timeline and rendering the static titles.
I created several bumpers on a G5 D2.5 OS 10.3.9 with the SW codec. I imported them into my Media100 XS 8.2.2 on a G4 D 1.42. OS 10.3.2. Every time I wanted to render static titles over those imported movies the application quit unexpectedly at the end of a 4 to 5 second static title render . Normally I wouldn’t render static titles but I was exporting as self-contained file so I had to.

This is a relatively quick conclusion. But my m100 app. was crashing every 5 minutes… no kidding. All I had to do was move the title over digitized video and the static title rendered fine. Odd.

I’ll try a few more tests to narrow it down a little further.

Avid EDLs will work. Most are saved as CMX 3600. Everything should redigitize fine. PSD file import would depend on there original size.
Without seeing it my guess suggestion would be to bring files into Photoshop and resize before import into M100 720.
It appears they are providing everything you need.

HDV is an inbetween format. It’s not going to be here in a year or two beacuse the real destinaion is HD. Save 6K and rent an HD camera as you need it or the next thing you will need is some device that converts all your HDV to HD. Be smart and skip HDV and rent HD. If Media 100 spends any effort on HDV it will be wasted time when they could have been working on real issues.

I’ll drink to that. HDV is a distraction at best. Pet rock of the week.
