Im going to look into EditShare Ark and weigh up my options.

Hi,

Just wandering if you managed to resolve this issue?

We may be upgrading to Lion at some point in the near future, and a lot of our footage is shot on the P2.

I’m quite relieved to hear that – I’ve been digging around trying to understand any issues we might have and came across comments that stated an FCP 7 install on Lion was not possible:

“People who purchase a new Mac that will be running Lion will no longer be able to install FCP 7 (FCS). While FCP 7 is Intel, it requires Rosette to be installed and Apple has killed off Rosetta in Lion.”

Did you do anything other than just inserting the disks? Were there any issues with the installer that you had to work around?

I did contact EditShare and, as most of you have said, FCP X is not qualified for use with EditShare. They are still in early stages of testing it and say it seems that media sharing from the EditShare works ok, but project sharing may be an issue. They say that ‘software updates to FCP X itself may add, remove, or alter how the current 1.0 version behaves’.

FCP 7 it is for now then : )
