    Durin,

I think that Firas is looking for the proper procedure to export six separate/split/discrete tracks from Audition so he can take them into DCP as such.
What he was experiencing, to my understanding, is that Audition exported a single surround track as the only option.
I wanted to help and tried to do that in Audition, which I have previously only used to clean noisy tracks, but all I got was the same result as I think Firas got.
Firas surely found a solution in order to move on. But I didn’t! ☺
I can’t believe that it is not possible in Audition.
From Logic I export split files resulting in six separate files L,R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs, but to test Firas’ situation, I imported them into Audition, multitrack 5.1, each panned to their respective corner and LFE as such with all coming out perfectly through my surround audio monitoring system, just like in Logic, but in Audition, I can only export a single surround file.

So now I am super curious and was not able to find anything about it online, not even through Lynda.com’s tutorials.
I am on CS6. Does this limit the export of six split tracks L,R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs to a single surround track or is there a way to export six split tracks?

    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

    Hello Shane,

    Thanks for this info.

My FCP 7 timeline is rendered as High Precision YUV and monitored for DCI color on a NEC monitor. The final work goes to film festivals.

I am about to get a I/O card that might output either RGB or YUV. That hasn’t worried me until now.
My knowledge from manuals tells me that if it is ProRes (HQ) which is 10 bit, it should be rendered as High Precision YUV, so I am very sensitive when YOU say that if it goes to digital projection (film festivals), RGB is “fine”.

Please do share, if it should be RGB or if it is just that RGB renders takes shorter times and would be “good enough” for digital projection in a theatre.

Would YUV be more useful in any way? Especially when plugin loaded…?

As always, your opinion is highly appreciated,
    Alex

    Thanks Shane,

I’ve been focused on Blackmagic Design models, but I can start looking as Konas now ☺

    Again, thanks for your input,

    Hello Shane,

Deadline to complete all post in audio/visuals is in two month and I am worried that I am not finding a solution for a current problem.

I am on a MacPro with OS 10.8.5 and Final Cut 7.0.3 now entering color correction and grading for a 5 year project in 1080p HD.
I have a 10 bit color grading monitor (NEC PA272W) that meets my needs. But with my current Nvidia GTX 770 there is banding, probably due to displaying 8 bit only. The footage is in 10 bit ProRes 422 (HQ).
From what you wrote, now I know that there is also inaccurate color from FCP 7.

I am having no luck finding out what I/O card might work today on a Mac Pro 5,1 – OS 10.8.5, with FCP 7.0.3.
All I am finding shows compatibility with latest OS only.

Maybe you have some pointers as to where I might be able to buy an I/O AJA or Blackmagic Design card that will give me:

    10 bit accurate color
    On 1080p HD 30 fps (27.97)
    From FCP 7.0.3
On a 12 core Mac Pro mid 2010
    Working drivers for OS 10.8.5
With a 10 bit Output from DisplayPort or HDMI

    You opinion is very appreciated,

    Alex

  • Thanks for this thread!

I have been considering that maybe my card is not working right, but after reading this entire thread I am thinking that maybe it is.

  • Hi again Clark,

Did the GTX 780 6GB get to you?
Did it work on your MP 5,1? Cuda, OpenCl, Premiere, Resolve?

I also run FCP7 and Logic 9, but mostly, I’d like to know that Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder and Resolve can use it.

    Thanks again,

    Alex

  • Hello Clark,

    Any updates?

    I hope you don’t mind me asking…
Is the GTX 780 Ti on it’s own sufficient for Resolve on a MacPro 5,1, 12 cores?
How do you power the card?

I look forward to your updates.

    Thanks,
    Alex
