Please, forgive my english.
I´m reading your thread because I´m working with CS6 too and I´m having an issue with it in another way (besides other small things that becomes impossible to solve).
I have decided to finish a big project that i´m working on right now and then upgrade to CC (the most up-to-date version available).
Also, I´ve downloaded Resolve 2 days ago because I´ve noticed that a lot of companies are hiring editors with experience in this application in addition to its great CC capabilities reputation.
Few days ago, I accepted the fact that if I don´t keep up to date with new softwares, being open mind enough to get out of my comfort zone and try new things that may look scary because they´re different and face it asap before is too late, is gonna be worse and more difficult to be up to date with new trends.
So… my humble advice is summed up in this:
Finish your biggest and recent project you are working on Premiere CS6 and get the most up-to-date version available in the market right after that. Dare to try Resolve and get acquainted with that new platform (I tried it right after downloading it and, in fact, it’s easier than I expected).
Just stop wasting your time thinking about it, asking if u should or not upgrade your software version (considering that you said in your very first message that you are “aware that that is just the way things are now” and start expending that time in upgrading your knowledge (being honest and with all the respect you deserve).
Best of lucks!
