I agree with both of you on making instances of individual titles while working….
all that is true…
he’s looking for more of a “true comp duplicator” type workflow.
Importing the template repeatedly will offer an entirely fresh set of titles in a fresh sequence, as opposed to one offs…
at least that’s the way I read it…..

You could probably do it by way of making a full res proxy in a dif codec…
again…just looking for a work around.
Working in software mode would also likely resolve it….but then you completely lose the GPU benefit across the whole timeline….as opposed to just flipping the specific shots you are having issues with….

I’d suggest making the matte oversized…with a ton of border….
when using it in your timeline I’d suggest then using “Scale to frame size” in the clip context menu in the timeline.
this would give you the ability to repo/scale you are looking for I think…

Duplicating a sequence within a project will not create new instances of dependent objects.
The new sequences will still link to the original asset. You might try this by working in a empty project, and importing that sequence from a template project.
In this way every time you wanted a new instance, you could import the sequence again.
This would give you another instance of that title that you can change independently.

December 24, 2016 at 9:29 am in reply to: Proxy question regarding media encoder and proxy sizes and 4kHi…
if your 1080 files are nearly identical in file size to the 4k files, that should give you an indication of just how heavily compressed the 4k material is to make it that small.
This means that the computer has to work very hard to display the 4k in terms of decompressing the frames for playback.
The 1080 requires much less decompression and is simpler for the computer to display which is why playback would be smoother even though the file size is similar.
So it’s not the data rate of the materials that is causing you a problem. It’s the compression.

I sit at a mac. I have an old Mac Pro at home.
I’ve also been a long time windows user as well.Strictly from a value perspective…
You’ll get way more PC for the same money spent.
Tons more Graphics hardware options which is a big deal when it comes to both Maya and Adobe apps.
All that being said, my Mac has been basically trouble free for years now…solid.
I do find that the amount of spyware internet clogging stuff that ends up on a PC to require much more time and attention. But I find that I my surfing patterns have become pretty static and that I can discern reasonably what should and should not be clicked on. So maybe I’m thinking more about the headaches I’ve had fixing other people’s machines than my own.
