I’ll assume that it means something like …. placing the unmarked master clips in the general sequence they are to play….and then cutting way extraneous bits in the sequence.
progressively getting to the final edit via subtracting out the bits you don’t want.

a larger question…
but if your employer was to consider the current version for Ppro…via the creative cloud…
you’d have access to licenses at work and home….
and you’d have access to cloud storage as part of that deal (although you should look at the capacity)…
which I’d guess would sync something like a drop box….so you could keep things in sync at home and work that way….
some others here might be able to add more details to this workflow….but it might be something to examine…

I like the idea….but what about structured media? (MXF, XDCAM)
you see them as clips in ppro…
but in this file system, they are often made up of multiple parts in multiple folders?

hmmm….thought about this on the drive home…
Are you double clicking the clip in the timeline?
this is “open in source viewer” not “match to source viewer”
match – loads original source (as present in the project panel)…
open – loads timeline instance into viewer….
so that won’t work (again cuz audio won’t be present)

hi…
looks to me like it it’s a series of photos taken with shallow depth of field
cut in sequence…
or foreground was key
and background was sequence compd (thus you can control the blur of the bg)
the graphic was probably created in Photoshop.
Looks like some 3d tracking was done on the Foreground and attached to an offset anchor of the graphic….or the track data attached to a null and then the null to graphic to make it appear attached motion wise to the foreground….

yep…probably the cause….
if you match match a clip like that to the source viewer…(f key via FCP setup)
since the audio is present in the SV…then you can drag from the SV to the bin….
not elegant…but it will get ya by…

when you select the clip….is the audio also selected?
does the clip have audio that may not be present in the sequence?
I seem to recall from a recent similar thread that the default selection behavior has changed from linked to unlinked
and that unless all aspects of a clip are in the selection, it can’t be dragged to a bin…
check your wrench icon in the timeline…. for a start…

in the new project, if you use your media browser panel and navigate to the old project and double click it in the media browser…
it will let you see all clips, bins and sequences in the project.
there you should be able to pull in what you want….
