need some clarity….
Are your clips:
1) some sort of movie with an alpha channel for layering over other vids
2) Just vids?
3) Dynamically link AE comps?Alex Udell

Well it depends on how you construct your sequence, right?
If you stack your nest over the clip you want to transition to…
then you can add the effect at the tail and it will work…
if you want to do the transition within the same track and you didn’t account for handles when you made the nest…
open the nest and add some handles to the source….
then you can dissolve in the parent in the same track…
either way, PPro doesn’t handle the detection automagically…

Hi…
so you have trimmed a set of clips….
created a 2 layer effect…
nested it…
then in the parent sequence want to trim it out or add a transition?
Probably have to add some handles in the nest…PPro’s not going to assume you want anymore media exposed then you exposed at the time you made the nest…
am I understanding correctly?
am I misunderstanding your intent?

Hi Alex,
Should be fine.
Mac vs. PC can make a difference depending on how the shared storage appears to your local machine.
On the Mac, everything will generally appear a named volume so the path to assets will likely be the same.
On the PC, sometimes cofigurations use letter volumes (Z:/) as opposed to UNC (universal Naming convention path) //machine/drive/folder.
when ppl mount and unmount volumes with Letter paths, Windows may not choose the same letter designations as someone else used when last working on a project…
so when the letters don’t match….media won’t relink without a little help.
There are ways to create mount points for netowrk shares so that thet come up a s subordinate paths to C:
if youo can cofigure it this way…then the paths will be consistent on everyone’s machines….

hmmm….might not work exactly….as the layers may move relative to one another….not exactly same positions….
A nest might be a good option here…
then you are only moving one thing….but the individual ites can still have their own movement inside the nest…

Hi Ashley
Starting out with a proxy workflow MIGHT be peferable here to overall keep data rates low…
this would require proxies of your sources in your timleine…
but I think it might be worth it regardless of which way you go in terms of new gear…
I’ll let others chime in on this…
but it would go something like this
sync your sources on you multicam set up time line…
then in that same timeline….
create proxies of those same clips…
in this way you will have better performance for your edit…
but then switch back to full res for final output…

Use the razor blade tool to split your clip at the point you want the speed change to begin.
then use Clip>speed to change the speed of that segment…

October 11, 2015 at 1:38 pm in reply to: I’ve created a multicam clip/sequence. But now do I get it into a sequence as one clip that I can cut and change angles in?Hiya…
Now that you have that multicam sequence as a nested sequence in another timeline, it’s necessary to let PPro that you want to use that clip as multicam…otherise it’s just treating it like a standard nested sequence…
right click the clip in the timeline and choose “enable multicam”
the clip in the timeline will now say something like “MC1” (for multicam angle 1)then in the record viewer, got to the wrench and enable multicam viewer…
now you will be able to see all your angles.
as you make your edits, by switching angles at diff times….cuts will be added int he timeline and you will see that each subsequent clip will be labelled to let you know what angle is being exposed in the nest…
