Premiere Pro CC 2015 on shared storage
Posted by Alex Neuman on October 13, 2015 at 10:16 pmHi All:
Is anybody using Premier Pro CC on shared storage without any issues?
Opening, working and saving the same project on different computers?
NOT at the same time of course. Thanks,
Alex Neuman

October 14, 2015 at 1:24 pmHi Alex,
Should be fine.
Mac vs. PC can make a difference depending on how the shared storage appears to your local machine.
On the Mac, everything will generally appear a named volume so the path to assets will likely be the same.
On the PC, sometimes cofigurations use letter volumes (Z:/) as opposed to UNC (universal Naming convention path) //machine/drive/folder.
when ppl mount and unmount volumes with Letter paths, Windows may not choose the same letter designations as someone else used when last working on a project…
so when the letters don’t match….media won’t relink without a little help.
There are ways to create mount points for netowrk shares so that thet come up a s subordinate paths to C:
if youo can cofigure it this way…then the paths will be consistent on everyone’s machines….

October 14, 2015 at 9:34 pmThanks Alex,
I am on a mac but having lots of problems, I need to reset scratch disks every time I open the project in another machine, although they are always pointing to the same scratch disks, and also a lot of project will open with the funky timeline I posted the pic for.
Best,

October 15, 2015 at 6:42 pmMaybe you want to try “same as project”
see if we can get past that….
then work on other stuff..
if people are all writing to the same fixed location….that might cause a problem…
