Rp..RP…
On second thought you may actually want to use nesting.
That way if you amke any chages to the Source Color Correction, it will update in the main timeline wherever that clip is used….
The choice is yours….
This workflow starts the same:
1) Make a timeline for CC sources
2) Color Correct as on that timeline.
Here’s where it diffes from the previous method.
3) Select the Sequence in you project window and load it to your source viewer and edit it like it was a clip.
4) Edit it to the timeline.
Now if you make CC changes at the source timeline level, whevere clips from that timline are used, they will automatically reflect the new changes. This can be very helpful (needing to make the adjustment at only one place).
BE AWARE:
Time codes you are referencing in the source viewer will be that of the Nested timeline, NOT of the source media itself.
This can make it difficult if you are working in an Offline > Online workflow (lowres >rebatch hires).
Or if you have shot logs based on the source timecode that you will be refercing to make your intial selects….the timecodes will not match….
You’ll also have to test and see how “heavy” it makes the material and if it’s worth the effort…
Sorry I don’t know all the answers…but these are the options as I can see them….
Anyone else want to chime in?
