I actually decided to redo it in a different way using repeater. It looks better now, but still not perfect. So, I’m going to try the options that you suggested. It’s not the final work, but it’s supposed to look simple at the end anyway.

So no suggestions at all…..
Maybe someone can tell me how to redo it in the way that I don‘t have this problem again?
That‘s what I‘m trying to do:
– import AI file to AE (ai file is a grid of 8 squares to 8 squares)
– convert it into shape layer
– scale up the squares
– reduce the distance between the squares proportionally while scaling them up
– put the stroke outside of each shape group to avoid changing its width
