I found that some still work, command Z still makes the timeline the size of the edit and things like that. I found that the arrow keys still work to jump to the start and end of clips and go frame by frame. But, I haven’t figured out scrub keys or some of the other basics that older versions of FCP had.

I read this and attempted to sync video (with Audio) to a seperate audio recording.

Background: I filmed a concert a few months ago and edited the show with FCP Studio 2. I figured I’d use the same footage to learn FCPX.

So, I made a new project and imported all the video clips and audio. The audio is a board recording in mp3 format the band gave me.
The one camera is a HV30 that I had recording the whole show and then I had a handheld 5D that I filmed song by song.
I attempted to sync the whole thing at once and like above had no luck. I then tried to sync the audio with one video clip and it doesn’t sync but, creates a timeline with the audio track and the video clip locked together out of sync.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong here? Or should I just give up and manually sync things up like I would with FCP7?
