Add a Bevel filter to the scaled down clip- that cures the jaggies problem because the Bevel filter takes care of the edges.

Thanks, Jerry, that did the trick!

Thanks, Don. I didn’t get it to work so I finally deleted mask, DZ and filter, added the websites and went 2D.
Just what I wanted (maybe a little flatter)! Thanks,
Alex

[Rafael Amador] “- Drop a clip to a sequence and conform to EX.”
You mean to say that -when FCP asks to change sequence settings to match clip settings- click ‘yes’?
I ask this because I usually already have selected the Easy Setup for EX. Just want to make sure you don’t mean anything else by ‘conform to EX’.

I’m very slow to jump on the ProRes wagon but I’d like to start using ProRes. I’ve been searching the forums and here’s a lot of info and advice but some of it is older than a year so I’m unsure if insights have changed or developments have altered the workflow.
So my question is: is there some sort of guide on how to work with ProRes ie order of actions, settings etc?
I have my browser full of EX-clips and want to work in the ProRes codec: what now? -
Thanks, David.
I’m still curious about one thing, though, because you brought it up.
David Roth Weiss: “There are no inherent issues with editing EX footage with a firewire 800 setup, it’s just pure numbers and all about throughput, which is a factor limited by the capabilities of firewire and the number of drives you can stripe together.”
How does this apply to my situation? Is there a handicap or anything I cannot do -keeping in mind that I deliver mostly SD and H.264 for the web- because I use FW 800 as opposed to eSata?

David Roth Weiss: Tell me what you’ve got precisely so I can scope it out in order to help you.
LaCie Biggest Quadra, 4×500 GB.

So… how does this translate into real life? I have a RAID 5 system of 4 drives that I want to connect to my iMac via FW 800 to edit ProRes. Can I expect problems with this setup? If so, what kind of problems?
David Roth Weiss: “The weak link with iMacs is that they have no expansion slots, so they are limited to a single firewire bus, with no provision for adding an additional firewire card, SATA controller card, etc.”
I understand that. But considering I deliver almost exclusively SD and/or for the web, I don’t need that extra slot. That’s exactly why I’m looking into the iMac.

The MacPro is definitely a better value as it opens up so many more options. for any editing workflow. Video IN/OUT cards like the AJA or Black magic that let you properly monitor and color grade footage. Not to mention the advanced storage options that can be used with a MacPro.
I have a Matrox MXO that I can presumably hook up via minidisplay-port to DVI adapter.
[Alexander Wolf] “And is a RAID 5 system connected thru FW 800 fast enough for EX material?”
Your going to loose the speed advantages of a that type of raid when you go and connect it via FW800. It’s kinda like a 5 lane highway vs a 2 lane road.
Working with ProRes, FW800 is fine, I understand. I’ll keep the security of RAID 5. In what sense will the speed loss manifest itself?
