After some further discussion with the AJA support they brought up a new installer, named XENA_setup-2.0.1.exe. With this version we were able to capture into AVI using UYVY color space and use the files in other applications. In our case it had to do with using SATA storage.

However, it worked perfectly in the end, and we will gladly keep the cards. Thanks again to the AJA support!

We have bought two AJA LSe cards to capture to AVI and encode with Windows Media Encoder. We even asked sales@aja.com before buying if the Machina capturing application supported capturing multichannel audio to multiple mono WAV files for this special reason. They responded with a clear yes.
After installation we are able to capture with the Machina application to QuickTime and AVI, but only the QuickTime files are being played in the QuickTime player. No application is able to play the AVI files produced by Machina. When complaining at support@aja.com I received this answer: “We do not offer an AVI codec for using our content in other Applications. We prefer Quicktime as it is a more universal format to work with.”

This is deception and we will cancel the order and bring back the cards to our dealer.
