  • I hear you, Bob. Many thanks for taking the time to reply. I had been somewhat encouraged by an article on the Matrox MXO.

    Shane are you out there?

I do however appreciate the confidence provided by a broadcast monitor having finished a series with a Sony BVM-A20F1M last year. Nice monitor.

    all the best

    Hi Chris

I exported a marker list at a .txt file, and gave that to composer, but he was unable to import this into Pro Tools by any obvious means. Are you sure this is possible?

    many thanks

    Dear All

    I’ve cracked it.

None of the above solved my Playback hang issue, but what I noticed today is that this problem only arises during hourly Time Machine back ups. When I turn Time Machine off, there’s no problem. If I manually start a back up, the problem returns.

My configuration is to by Airport to a remote 1TB Time Capsule.

If anyone here knows how to improve this, I’d be very grateful to know. In the meantime, my Time Machine will be off during cutting time.

Many thanks, Walt: I’ve noted Jeremy’s postings for the future. As it happens, I managed to solve the Compressor issue once I’d completed the following two fixes (not sure which was the solution though):

    1. delete Compressor’s .plist file in the Home folder

    2. Compressor > Reset Background Processing…

    Re the Hang:
I have now used the install disk to Repair Permissions on the HD drive, and use MacJanitor to clean up the System files as suggested by Simon and David. Let’s see how the day goes.

Many thanks Simon and David. I have this morning used Disk Utility to Repair Permissions with no improvement. I will look into MacJanitor tonight.

I haven’t been using Motion, but Compressor is hanging indefinitely on Submit. It may be related.

Both the FCP and Compressor tasks involve reading data across disks (RAID 0).

November 23, 2008 at 3:15 pm in reply to: Batch List Importing – problems

    Thank you Jerry and Steven.

These suggestions didn’t work for me, but they did help me find a workaround.
    In summary:

tab delimited text files do not work for my set up

    cleaner text files do

I think one issue here may be that I don’t have Microsoft Office. I use iWork, which I like a lot for all the classic Apple reasons. As I suspect the number of iWork-FCP users in the world will grow, I’ve uploaded another zip file which contains batch lists that work, batch lists that don’t work, a summary of what I think are the reasons, plus two Automator workflows:

  • Many thanks for your reply. However, I’m still keen to know of the FCP to Avid experience.
