All good information, some of which goes into the ol iPhone for future reference. 90 day payment by advertising agencies seems to be the norm in the US since the 1970s, when I first worked with them. But 90+ is exorbitant no matter what the business, government or not. Remember, for all they know, you have rent, staff salaries, taxes and more to pay. If you didn’t get paid for many months, you wouldn’t survive, and they rely on your taxes to pay their bills.
Do you have enough of a relationship with the senior people there to ask for a meeting? (or have you done that yet?). I found in days gone by that often a chat with a senior person, explaining that it’s a delicate topic but that you have gone long beyond your normal aging period, that you talked to folks lower down in the ranks to no avail, and you really need to know what they think you should do. Politics works on back door conversations to actually get things done. It sounds like you are justified in calling for a chat. If that doesn’t work, often a letter from a lawyer to their accounts payable department gets things moving. Do you retain a lawyer? Is it worth the cost of having them write a letter on your behalf?

Excellent! Don’t worry about your flaws on this, just accept it as a hit because you got the storytelling right, your work was timely, and it hit your audience where it counts, making them want to share.
It looks ok to me without knowing your original ideas. All tools are just that, tools, none of us really know or care what brush a painter used to paint a masterpiece, and plenty of musicians have made hits on low end guitars. FCPX is capable of doing a lot of things, as is it’s competitors.
Now for the second act and the attempt to best this!
By the way, you might want to subtitle it for use overseas. You might get a wider US audience by at least helping us poor souls who don’t speak German!

I have a wide range of cameras, including a Canon XF305 and a Mkiii. I can tell you I run into the problems like this alot. First, forget about your “image” of being a dinosaur, my footage on a well lit stage with the XF305 surpasses anything I can get with the Canon, period. The 4:2:2 space is wonderful. However, I do agree that I pick up the 5D far more than the 305. I look at them both as tools, different tools for different jobs. If I am going to be shooting in low light it’s always going to be the 5D. If I am shooting a well lit stage, for a two hour show, it’s going to be the 305. But yes, if you aren’t using the EX1, then sell it now, it won’t gain in value in the future!
Ultimately, if you buy the best lenses you can afford with the 5D, you can move up to the C100 or C300 as they come down in price, or your income allows it. I would trade my 5D for a C300, but not for AVCHD and 4:2:0 on the 100. (I might yet eat my words on this issue) But I can’t yet justify $15k or so for a single purpose camera, when I can take spectacular stills also on the 5D. Your glass will long outlive your bodies.

Once on another board, under the Panny heading, there was a post that someone had been in the Panny offices somewhere in the world, and saw a box full of discarded cards. The Panny rep had mentioned to them that they were ‘bad’ cards that had failed. This was a graphic image that has stuck with me over the last few years, and my own experience has been that cheaper cards fail on me while the Sandisk Extreme Pros have never failed me in three years of shooting. Granted, your sample set of one could be other issues, including a malfunctioning 7D. But I would certainly follow the advice of getting a card saver (though I’ve never had any success using them on those older cards), and buy a fresh high end card. By the way, you did make sure the card you were using was rated for the camera’s throughput? Sandisk makes a wide range of cards. The extreme pros are one of their line that should work fine (and mine have on my 7D). Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Joey, the answer is yes to the upgrade. I have both and would not choose to shoot video with my 7d if the mkiii is available. Please view Philip Bloom’s excellent review of the 5d mkiii. He covers the reasons pretty clearly. Shows examples.

I’ve shot both, and for the mony you are spending on a 5d you can get a very good camcorder. Having a zoom that doesn’t go out of focus as you track someone can be a big advantage, and ergonomically they are built better. Rent one if you can before buying.

Thanks Hisayo, would be interested to know how it turns out. I like Premiere a lot, and haven’t worked with Avid lately, but respect their dedication to the industry. Premiere has worked fine for 4 camera multicam work. But i don’t do theatrical pieces, so it’s hard to know what the nuances are between them. Best of luck. Would love to see the film.
