    In a “preview” I just want to see true fps. That is more important than a final rendering. Especially when working with 2K sized frames. It is a silly idea that FCP exports your rendered timeline- effectively a second generation. Unless you are using 4:4:4 or a high bit depth compression algorithm it is a totally useless practice and that system is only just surfacing.

    Great thanks Russell. All the concept art I do/the company does is scaled down to 2048 858 (drawn in corel/photoshop). In this instance I had to match it with 1920 footage with guides, so it’s much faster, takes less space than cutting to scope later. Also I can align my concept drawings better. But for all other purposes, if it were for TV for instance, your right.

    Sure I do a lot of concept art at 2048 858 2:39:1 resolution for a DCI digital cinema projector used for presentations to the director. In this instance I have some video footage at 1920, and prefer to use the Christies digital up-scaler on board the projector as its a much better for workflow and quality rather than using software to bring the 1920 up to 2048.
