I have – I was on a shoot with them a while ago. Beautiful picture, very user-friendly, nice cams overall. They do take remotes if you’re using them in a studio/multicamera setting. Nice remotes, too.

GL2? They still make those?
Seriously – a GL2 is what a truck guy would list as an LPS.
I’ve had to use them on occasion, and while they can produce a usable image outdoors during the day, they are not very sensitive and incredibly noisy.

I’ve shot with one Hitachi in my life. Long, long ago. It was from their broadcast line and the image quality was quite good.
I owned Sony and Ikegami Betacam heads. The quality of them was also very good.
Take the offered advice and get a real-world demo. Maybe even a “shootout” if time permits.

Another useful idea, if you absolutely cannot have a sound operator and are using only one mic mounted on the camera: Send it to both channels, and have the second one somewhere in the area of 3 db down. It will give you a little protection in case something gets too loud.
And whatever is behind your subject is also in your pickup pattern.

You will need a switcher upstream and a DVD recorder. And if you’re offering a DVD “immediately after” you will not have time to do any editing.
I’d recommend a NewTek TriCaster and the DVD burner of your choice. Not a cheap solution, until you consider the cost of doing it any other way.

I’d agree – in fact, I’d go a bit farther.
A tripod is a long-term investment. Mine has been with me through two cameras and though I rent now (format confusion still at large) I still have it and it still goes out with me.
Buy the very best you can afford. There are very few people in life who will ever say “I wish I had not gotten something this good!”

Since most computers in an enterprise setting are Windows based (and this is highly unlikely to change in the imaginable future) they can play both.
If they want WMV, give your customer what they want.
