Yes, I am seeing the same artifacting you are, particularly on reds and yellows. Quite disappointing considering how FCP7’s Broadcast Safe filter (and even Premiere’s previous Broadcast Safe filter) worked brilliantly.

Even with the color balance filter being added, as you suggested, I’m still seeing artifacting (although, moderately less than before).

Premiere’s old Broadcast Safe filter worked, I don’t understand why they replaced with with a broken tool.

This exact issue popped up immediately AFTER I upgraded to 2015.1. No problems with the prior version of 2015.

I’m not using Lumetri scopes. I am working in a rather large project, and it takes a few hours of work before I see the error. I’m using native .mxf files, but working in a timeline configured for ProRes422. Editing 23.976 footage in a 29.97 DF timeline.

    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
    3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5
    64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
    AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB

I have allocated 48 GBs to Adobe products in preferences, leaving 16 GBs for the rest of my processes. Have tried setting rendering optimized to both “Performance” and “Memory” with the same errors.

Submitted a bug fix form. Please do what you can to fix this leak. Thanks!

  • Ah! Thank you both! You’ve been very helpful and I appreciate it. Sounds like getting an Nvidia card would be a good purchase if I’m using CS6’s production suite.

And of course… Matrox… what was I was thinking? I guess the question I was getting at was would the Matrox Mini with Max option have a compounded effect on native h264 playback, since it is supposed to have that blazing fast encoder, but I’m going to guess it’s mostly for external video/audio monitoring, and h264 file compression.

I’m also going to assume I can keep my ATI Radeon 5770 as my GUI card and just have the NVidia run as my GPU? Or won’t they play well together? (Bear with me, I’ve never had to build a machine like this before and I’m pretty much a newb about this stuff.)

    Thanks,

  • Hi Montica!

Thanks a ton for the information! As far as my research goes, it appears the DP4 and the Zacuto EVF are pretty much the same product, with the DP4 being more bang for the buck.

It concerns me about the ball flash mount though… the one on the Zacuto I used locked down just fine. Are you using SmallHD’s ball flash mount?

I’m still trying to determine if the Swivl 5.6″ screen would be any better because of the size – at half the price – but it locks into the side of the DSLR and may or may not cover inputs. Plus, overall quality and features are probably trimmed down. I can’t seem to find any head to head reviews online… where are you looking?

    Thanks again for the reply!
