i thought it had some of the clearest expressions of the problems with proxies as well – at least for me – like what happens to audio and double system sound,

I think they just sort of called it? The designer said for AE, but that was never really a problem from 7 with xml and free duck and that.
fwiw Disney out in chiswick park are gone the same. I was put in front of PPro to cut some Disney channel promos there a month back.

I think it’s super duper unlikely that ppro is going to unseat avid in any of the premier post houses for long form narrative or factual any time soon,
but i think its really really likely that its going to have 80% of what 7 had inside the next year or two. that’s a fair bit of stuff.

Avid is still Avid alright, still… PPro just had 50% year over year market share growth. so realistically, it could well be a quarter or more of the market this time next year. And that’s a pretty selective market I think in terms of respondents. If you cast the net a bit wider, PPro in London could be at a quarter of seats already. In fact I’d be surprised if its not.

Viacom won’t let you edit spots with anything else as of recently. They’ve still got 7, but they’re enforcing PPro. THere’s also Hogarth, CNN, Associated Press, and a ton of other places. It’s definitely a bit of a comer….

it still feels mad – aren’t we having a stupid argument that has nothing to do with the attributes of the film held in US salt mines?
If cinemas are being marginalised to spectacle:
exactly how stupid is the person pushing false pixel density with crap LCD screens?
why are the panel suppliers at such a destructively reductive mega-pixel argument?

how is it that the 12 bit vista-vision classic film celluloid 13000 nits blow your mind household panels are only available in our imaginations?

thank god someone thought to engineer them anyway.

sure netflix might be sniffing 720P for around a decade.

Larry Jordan has been pretty full on on this though right? the computational decode needs for h265 are pure savage?
and it’s a triple time encode relative to h264?

and is it true no one can see 4K over 2K (whatever that is) unless they’re sitting bizarrely close to a 40″ screen in their home?
4K sony images on room slabs are enjoyable, but I’d rather full pipeline high dynamic range and crazy brightness nits myself I think.

You’d think the panel manufacturers are pushing themselves down a culdesac where they are engaging in PC destructive commoditisation on pixels, when they could perform apple level quality up-sales on certified film grade acetate plate 12 bit panels measuring forty five inches with 12000 nits faithfully reproducing the 35 mill of apocalypse now.

you’d think the panel makers could do worse than create an internal value driven competition for true home celluloid?
