I’m really sorry to hear that. It feels very direct Kremlinology phrase excision. Deprecated terminology hints nearly. A lot of people were getting on board here too. It’s weird apple would signal it.

I’m really surprised at how blah it looks. big square lump on your wrist. chris ziegler on the verge made the point that as a gen one product – the apple watch is going to get an awful lot better looking over time. I don’t mind a thicker phone, I didn’t mind the original iphone, but I do rather mind a thicker square watch.

  • [Jeremy Garchow] “Adobe is for serious.”

they really really are going at it like the hounds of hell alright. And I did pay for the year off three days overtime so, to be fair like…

Some update list. They’ve even got full AE CC variable mask feathering in PPro by the looks of the screen shot. That’s completely bananas, and extremely nice news for CC work. between that, the luts, the adjustment layers, the tracking, and the speedgrade integration that is just an outright insane colour toolset.

  • [Oliver Peters] “as well as GPU processing. So all compositing and media processing only happens in Anywhere.”

haha! For once in a blue moon you are actually wrong on that one Oliver. It can and will use the local GPU for processing if it beats out the remote processing in response time.

edit – walter got there first at that.

  • But you seemed to be suggesting it was equivalent to using a Remote Desktop. The point is that is completely wrong. The software is local, and depending on circumstance, the gpu and effects processes are local. What is being virtualized is the video storage. They are operating a real time encode engine to deliver an optimized stream of all he assets to single downmuxed stream using their own codec to the client edit system. Also when you press pause they instantly insert the native media still frame – be it 5k epic or whatever.

It’s absolutely nothing like Remote Desktop or a VPN session. Those aren’t in any way accurate comparisons.

  • “Basicly, if you take any NLE and do a VPN session you’ll get the same. ”

    Mm. Right.

  • Nope. He does hedge his bets and seems to indicate that you need to be inside a couple of hundred miles of the source anywhere installation – he talks about geographic areas. And he did mention the speed of light a few times. Still – that was playing remote 4k material and ton of other codecs over a wifi connection and the Jkl shuttling looked bang on.

You’d think realistically it has to need minimum a 30mbps connection though? That about 3-4 MBps – you could imagine the adobe h264 streaming codec variant could push something respectable down that pipe in reliable real time.

the fact that it leverages remote and local GPUs in competition is pretty zany. There has to be an absolute ton of serious engineering in anywhere overall. I’m not pimping it because I’m lumped with the subscription, but it is absolutely crazy to consider where premiere has gone since 5.5 – or even since 6.

[Craig Seeman] “Aindreas broke down and bought a Creative Cloud subscription. Hell just froze over.

ah Seeman – to be fair I was backed right into that on a manic morning. in a figurative trash dumpster with a credit card. Adobe are creating some excellent staged hop skip impediments back to CS AE compatibility.

Chris Petit is near already calling me a fifth columnist for god’s sake. Don’t make it worse.

oi oi – the wheels on the bus move deliberately – they’re making the shift to CC towards the end of this year apparently? – all macs currently, all macs for the foreseeable. fcp.co might be overstating the case a bit in terms of X’s future proposed expansion in the bbc – from some of the groups on facebook, the notion seems to be that broadly they are moving to premiere with specific deployments of X where it plays.

Its been mentioned a while back, but ITV studios is going premiere as well. plenty of room for everyone.

I’m actually in media city at the mo – I’ll only say the obvious – engineering software decisions in the BBC aren’t exactly monolithic, media city is going premiere, 99% of longform is staying avid, and a lot of people have been saying for a long time that X is perfect magazine show cutter. Sounds like it’s finding a natural home.

As to the number of licenses – lets not forget the bruhaha over the BBC purchase of premiere CS licenses in the five figures back whenever that was.. If they were boxed that’s a raiders of the lost ark closing shot scenario there.
