We got an ice board into our blue and white G3 for AE – watching it get slotted in felt like the Ark opening scene in Raiders. That machine is still a massive soft spot in my heart. Such a hot rod for the time – and the ICE four point gradient was a god of a plug in.

I still miss the likely passing of magsafe? After spending the guts of a month in a sequence of rooms with multiple laptops going 24/7 on the road –

having any of them ready to fly at the kick of a leg late at night feels a back step? Losing magsafe is a bummer. It was a very nice security. You could walk away from your laptop plugged into a wall without thinking about it. You’d miss that.

isn’t possibly the point maybe that FCPX, by virtue of where apple landed it, has people trying to get in line to sell rubes ripple vitamin water?

are there periodic regulars here trying to sell somebody something in terms of workflow or training?

*edit* I don’t want to over do it – but are there maybe quite a few more carnies generally flocking around X as opposed to the other edit systems?

yep. apple really to god is apple – no one else imbues deeper efforts like they do in software. Gruber has gone deaf pointing out accessibility in iOS – but there is some actual general humanist magic sauce in their stuff.

that said apple photos storage is crappily over-priced tho. After google IO you’d run to google photos.
Unlimited photos and unlimited 1080P video storage baby. that’s quite something.

Not everyone always gets to go to apple disneyland. Their disneyland has extremely clear borders. Media content generation possibly ignores that kind of demarcation entirely. or it maybe super, super totally doesn’t.

sits on my dock, right in the centre, happily use it to pull and cut 240 fps 720P material off the impossible iPhone 6 object they produced.
the import dialogue is clean serious business.

FCPX is the car in the garage with the steering wheel on the roof and the pedals put where the wing mirrors usually are. there’s a bobbling white dot as well.

It is the Tucker Sedan of engineering automobile non-linear editing systems. It has its diehard adherents all present and correct here on the cow –
but it’s still a Tucker Sedan.

I generally think Apple lost themselves a hair too far in the future with X. It’s just too preachy.

well no. this forum, ideally, exists to remind any potential reader, viewing it in a debate context, that X is kind of irritatingly awful, and that they should salt the earth before they would lay hands on it given how crazy apple’s decision making has been over time – and how utterly insane the random distressed chrome 3D type updates have been lately.

Some people think this should be an arena within which people discuss the varying merits and methodologies of specific editing software over time, and the meaning of editing that lies behind it all.

but, the thing is, they are wrong. This is actually the forum that allows you to therapeutically knee FCPX in the groin until the sun grows cold. The forum also allows some other people to sit around and defend it.
