Oh yes…I almost forgot. We have Premiere v.7. When I checked the updates I did not see a v.7…I saw a 6.5 and 1.something (I guess the Premiere program is both a regular and Pro version) so as far as updating I am at a loss. I even had someone else over here check for updates and he found the same thing I did.
Help!

Just wanted to let you know how I am doing with the video file. We used the cleaning program you suggested and reinstalled the program, however, we still have the same problem. In order to get around the problem I tried saving the file (to use on another computer in Premiere Pro) as an avi and it took 8 hours to save. I also tried taking the files from that computer to use on another computer in Premiere and I seem to have trouble transferring files, in that they all dont transfer. I spoke with a video person about this and he said that it is almost impossible to move files because there are a lot that are hidden and that wherever you create the movie it should stay on that computer at all times.Anyway, I decided to try the AVI option and it took 8 hours to save. I also went online to Adobe and got a little information which cut down on the “save time” (from 8 hours to 15 minutes). They said to convert to a DV AVI from the Premiere Project window (select Microsoft DV AVI from the file type menu) or export using a non-DV codec. I was successful saving in avi both ways but when I imported that avi into Premiere on the new computer some of the sound was missing and scratchy.
Soooooo…I am pretty much back where I started. The customer I am doing this for needs the Real Player version as well as the Windows Media for use on the web. In the past I have had no problem saving the Windows Media file which leads me to believe that there could be a computer/hardware issue or a corrupt program. We already reinstalled the program but I still cannot save the file in the format my customer needs. I am going to try one last time but meanwhile, can you think of anything else I can check?
I want to also let you know that I really appreciate your help and all the time you have put into this. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for your help. We will try the suggestions starting with the “update”. We use Easy Cleaner on all our computers here to clean out the registry (and other stuff)…I would imagine that is similar to the program you suggested…but who knows? The one you suggested may work better.
I will let you know how I make out with this. Thanks again.

Hello and thank you for responding to my question. Previously I had no problem saving a file in Windows Media. Now I am. Thinking this problem was caused by a corrupted program we reinstalled the program but it still is not working.
In answer to your questions, I believe the drives are formatted as NTFS.
I am using the standard settings for the export thru Adobe Media Encoder (WM9 NTSC streaming, WM9 NTSC 256k download and WM8 NTSC 256k download and none worked even tho they have worked before). How does one access encoder updates from the Adobe site? We’ve checked and found none. Perhaps we’re not looking in the right section of the site?
The project settings (which is the same for Real Media which I had no problem saving)are Video for Windows, 29.97fps drop rate, Video Rendering Compressor: Cinepak Codec by Radius, frame size of 720×480, pixel aspect ratio D1/DVNTSC (0.9) and Display format/Audio samples.
I am going to try reinstalling the program on another computer and trying to export that way. I am presently saving my file as an avi and I will import the avi into the program. Perhaps that would work.
I really appreciate your help with this and look forward to receiving a response from you on this.
