I did a bit of research when I bought my H4n but I found that for the money it is amazing. I have used an XLR shotgun mic combined with a lav in the 3.5mm jack which disables the onboard mics before, don’t know about getting two in there though. I like it becuase it is really easy to use, has a nice big clear screen and the audio quality is great. I would recommend it.

Thanks for that Corey, I have been thinking about approaching some local wedding planners but have been unsure how to go about it, did the ones you are working with approach you or was it you who made the first move?

    Hi guys,

I am looking for more event video jobs, you mention Corey that you have shot fashion shows and small award ceremonies, how did you approach those clients? If anybody else has any good ideas on finding more jobs that are shooting event video I would appreciate your input.

    Regards

Have you thought about just renting for a while? You could use much better cameras and save up for something better. I have been renting a sony Z1 and more recently a Z5 and am looking to buy one of their new NX5 avchd cameras soon. I know it is much more preferable to own a camera but unless it paying for itself and you on top is there any point?

    Hi Dane,

I have a GH1 and bought the 20mm pancake lens recently

    https://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/Digital+Camera/Lenses+%26+Filters/H-H020/Overview/2821575/index.html

I really like this lens, its really great in low light and has a nice shallow DOF at 1.7, its fixed 40mm and have found it works fine for most general situations.

Since I got it I have had it off the camera a few times but it quickly goes back on.

    Hope this is a help.

I found a thread which has a few solutions, the best seems the file swap from encore to allow premiere to read the audio.

    https://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.3bc46f4d/21

I personally got around it by ripping the audio from the original file and importing it sepertly and synching them up, before I discovered the info on the problem.

Who knows what the hell pinnacle does to the files!

I realise the material I was given is not the most ideal but I was asked to do the best job I could with it which I did. I just believe a professional piece of software should be able to handle most types (especially the very common types) of video as well as consumer software if not better. The editing I did on the video would not have been possible with the very limited likes of WMM and Pinnacle.
