    Indeed, that is the source media. The actual bitrate that I have set up in OBS is also nowhere near that. Here’s a comparison of the footage I have raw vs rendered.

    I used OBS to capture all the footage from a video capture card. OBS interlaces all the video heavily but I used it instead of other software because it allowed me to get higher quality footage. Anyhow, playing around with the media and render settings I found that I could really minimize the interlacing by setting the media scan to Progressive and the render to Lower Field First. I’m still at a bit of a loss as to what Vegas is doing regarding the interlacing because just one of the clips wouldn’t deinterlace unless I specified the media scan as LFF as well. All the footage is from the same source too.

    There’s still a problem with ghosting in the image though (using the smart adaptive deinterlacing for the moment) and some noticeable interlacing leftover in at least one other clip that I can’t seem to get rid of no matter what.
