    Thanks,
Its a new HP Z800 AVID Media Composer 5.03 setup running Windows 7.

If I run Boris Red 4.3.3 in both the plugin for Composer and also the Red engine, preferences are saved. When I run AVIDfx 5.8.2 in its engine, preferences are saved. But when I use AVIDfx 5.8.2 in Composer preferences are not saved. So everytime I launch AVIDfx 5.8.2 in Composer I have to redo all my window, keyframe, export, color preferences etc. It really slows down the work flow to a nuisance.

Thanks again, but I dont have that button in the bottom of the effects palette in Xpress Pro 5.2, and I’m not seeing a command for it either. It is somewhere else in this version?

Thanks, but I don’t know how to “promote” them. How do I do that?

I had found a way of doing it, I dont know if its the same as you suggest. Basically just open the effect in 3, copy the tracks, close, drop a version 4 on the timeline and then open it up and paste the tracks into the new version. This is a real pain though.
