    Hey Bob,

Thanks for your thoughts. Yes it’s seeming like something has to go. At this stage it looks like I’m leaning towards the audio capture card – to be replaced by a firewire solution…

    Thanks Bob,

But Just to clarify I already have a Mac set up with 2 Audio Cards (I’m a recording musician too) one runs is in/out for recording the other runs a suite of plug ins. I want to ad a RAID and I would like to run a broadcast monitor. Which leaves no room for a decklink card.

So from what I’ve read the DVI-Extender will turn a DVI signal into a SDI signal but will this display video from say final cut or color similar to a video monitor? I realise that the Mac will probably just see it as a second display…

    Thanks Michael,

That was it. I didn’t think the data rate was that high I thought it was more like HDV, but I guess it’s not. Thanks mate, nice to wake up in the morning and have an answer 🙂 You rock!

    Hi David,

Thanks for that, Disk Warrior cool App hey, seems to have done the trick. Spent most of yesterday editing and no hanging thanks!

I also downloaded the newest drivers for my Atto UL3D which probably helped too, Thanks again.

    Hi Craig,

I really appreciated you taking the time to check it out, sincerely thankyou.

You suspicions are correct, I contacted my hosting people this morning only to be told that they’ve been having trouble at their end for at least the last 24 hrs, I’m pretty unimpressed actually. Seeing as I may have wasted the last 24hrs or more re-encoding video that was fine to begin with. They said it will most likely be fixed this afternoon my time (Melbour,e Australia) so I’ll be sussing out what the story is then and asking why no one was notified?

Once its fixed I’ll have a much better idea as to wether the video was the problem or the hosting people the problem.

    Best Regards,

    Adam Howden 🙂

    Ok,

So I’ve tracked down the problem, just thought I’d post it for any other poor soules out there that may need it.

It was Norton antivirus, I had it set to Auto – Protect, in system preferences you can either have this on or off, by switching it off then re-booting FCP 5.1.2 everything is back to normal…

    Hi bbasler,

Thanks I’ll try those things you’ve recomended, I’m pretty sure alll the software is up to date, 10.4.9, 5.1.4 etc

I’m using a SCSI RAID because I often run 10 Bit Digibeta programs and when I first set up my system in 2003 I purchased 2 Seagate 10K drives to run off a Attotech ULD3, It was cheaper to buy two more SCSI drives than set up a SATA array.

    Thanks, Adam 🙂
