Do not know, but it seems the card grabs the audio irespective of settings, and not consistently.

No, nothing else running. Just Soundtrack. It is a real pain having the inconsistent behavior. Work flow just plummets.

Bill, was not aware of the possible update.
I wish I had known this before I bought in, as I really like soundtrack, and would have gone a different route.
I really do not like having to cross my fingers each time.
So, who is fault?
BM for not getting the drivers/design right, or Apple for poor implimation of core software?
Do other cards have these issues?

Unless a scene encoded at max 7 Mbps 2 pass VBR, is somehow encoded differently than the same scene 7 Mbps cbr.
The image quality is the same, if not slightly better.

VBR will not assign a higher bit rate than set for difficult scenes, and apply a lower one for easy ones.
Overall less visual quality.
Great for getting lots on a disc.
But if all scenes (easy and hard) are encoded at say 7 mbs, then the overall image has to be better, or am I missing something?

At long last somebody else agrees, that if space is not an issue, cbr is probably better than vbr.
All frames getting the same compression, not some 3 some 5 some 7.
Plus half the compression time.
