It depends where you purchase your animations from. A few years ago, I purchased the Digital Juice Jumpbacks and they came in 2 formats: both PAL and NTSC.

I don’t know if the GPU cards are going to help you as much. I have the nVidia 7800 card and the difference in render speed is barely noticable. However, it does work with certain effects such as cross-dissolve, motion and a few others.

You aren’t the only one. As a laptop editor, I make sure that my drive has a letter and ensure that I remember that letter. If the letter doesn’t match on another computer then I have always been prompted with the ‘link files’ message.
