Grass Valley's Framelight X Editor

Grass Valley Demos New AMPP-based NRCS MOS Clip List Player, RMI and Native HTML5 Graphics for Framelight X Asset Management

Boosts Globally Distributed Media Asset Management Capabilities for News and Other Asset-rich Live Production Environments

Grass Valley®, the leading innovator of solutions for live production, will be showing the latest capabilities in its asset management solution, Framelight™X. Based on the company’s flexible, modular Agile Media Processing Platform (AMPP®), Framelight X is at the heart of the extensive suite of flexible, integrated products Grass Valley will show at IBC2023 in Amsterdam from September 15th through 18th at stand 9-A01.

According to Damon Hawkins, Director, Production for Grass Valley, “Adding an AMPP native MOS Clip List Player allows AMPP players, connected to Framelight X, to be driven by an NRCS rundown, for newsroom and live event production playout. Multiple rundowns can be supported with features such as preview of intro or outro, end clip behavior and post roll support. This MOS compatible playout application is important in positioning Framelight X as the leader in globally distributed, fast turnaround production workflows targeted to both News and Sports. This is part of our commitment to continuously enhance our cloud based AMPP product offerings, such as Framelight X, which allows our users to produce anywhere and distribute everywhere.”

Framelight X Logging and AI

Another enhancement to Framelight X being shown is the repurposing of Grass Valley’s Mync® universal media player/organizer as an RMI tool for ingesting media. This lightweight download onto the desktop allows users to ingest virtually any digital video format, create in and out marks and upload them to Framelight X where they can be edited in the Framelight X HTML5 Editor, EDIUS X or Adobe Premiere for craft editing.

In addition to this RMI feature, support for HTML5 graphics is now included in the Framelight X Editor. This allows editors to not only create graphics, but to set template variables so that graphics can be modified directly on the timeline. The Framelight X Inspector tool will also have the ability to view closed captions, paving the way for the soon-to-come ability to edit closed captions within the Framelight X Editor.

The key value of the AMPP ecosystem is its flexibility. GV Stratus and sQ customers today can connect to AMPP as an overarching federated solution with Framelight X, providing customers a path to cloud-services at their own pace, whilst leveraging the benefits of Framelight X immediately.

Media organizations have the power to structure and automate media management workflows in Framelight X, so that no matter where their production talent is located, they are all connected to the same process. Grass Valley’s AMPP architecture offers a federated structure, allowing all connected users to work collaboratively, with real-time visibility of changes made by anyone else, anywhere in the world – users are never out of sync.
