I know you can remap the keyboard and number pad, but I was wondering if there’s any way to map FCP commands to the mouse buttons or wheel? I like scrolling the timeline with shift-wheel, and option-wheel would rock to zoom in and out from the playbar or CTI or whatever the heck they call it here… is this do-able in FCP?

    Adam,

I agree, it would be sweet. I searched high and low for a way to do this through FCP, and came up with nothing. I then asked on the other FCP forum and the response was simple: No, you can’t do it through FCP, but whoever makes your mouse should have have the ability to do it through their driver. You should be able to find instructions on the internet on how to map the wheel to whatever function you want.

I think mine’s a Logitec. If I get around to doing it, I’ll post back with how. (you do the same)

    Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I’d considered remapping my mouse for just FCP, but wouldn’t that break all other existing mouse-wheel commands? If I remap wheel-up and wheel-down to match my keyboard zoom keys, then every wheel spin would zoom the timeline and I’d lose all the other wheel commands such as vertically scrolling tracks or shift-wheel to scroll the timeline.
