  • Zoom in and zoom out

Posted by Soumendra Jena on March 6, 2014 at 3:16 am

I have seen some videos and also in movies, the footages like the disco or pub dancing scenes, they do a quick zoom in and zoom out too and then back to normal .

    How is that done ?

Is that something which is done in Post processing and how
    ?

Because, camera zoom in zoom out cannot be that smooth as it depends on the hand movements, which will never be even for the moves.

It is also called a Pop Zoom. Usually it is a manual zoom on the camera. Quickly rotate the zoom ring back and forth from full wide to full tele and back by hand.

Select a clip on the timeline, then go to the Effects panel. Each clip already has “Adobe Motion” effect on it. Use the “Scale” function to “zoom in/out”. You will need to use Keyframes to animate the scaling up/down. Plenty of online tutorials on how to use keyframes, probably some right here on the Cow.

    Thanks

Cut the clip where you want the pop zoom.
Drop the Cross Zoom transition on this cut.
See if that will work for you.
