    Hello!

This is my first time posting here. I am really not a pro and would like some help.

I am using a Zoom H4N with a Wired Audio Technica ATR3350 lav mic (it’s one on the cheap end of the spectrum but has been quite loyal and efficient so far).
I want to maximise the potential of my set up and capture the best sound I can. Can someone help in terms of Recording levels and any tweaking that could be in post production? I have always recorded with level that allow the sound to peak between -12 and – 6, however lately I feel like the sound I am capturing might be a little low.

    Thanks in advance!

Set your average level to -18 which will give you 18db of head room. With peaks at -12 to -6 you’ll be doing just fine.
