  • Zombie audio playback when stepping in compound clip

I created a compound clip consisting of R3D files. I detached the audio from both so they would be perfectly silent. They are perfectly silent, whether I step through them in the (compound clip) timeline or playback. However, when I step frame-by-frame through the compound clip in the main timeline, audio plays. The inspector tells me there’s no audio at all in the compound clip. When I play the compound clip there’s no audio played. But when I step, I get the audio, which I don’t want.

The compound clip has a number of things disabled, as if it knows there’s no audio, but it does offer the “Detach Audio” option. When I click that, nothing happens.

I want to hear no audio in the compound clip, neither when I play nor when I step through frame by frame. Is this a bug in FCPX 10.2?
