Zip together mpeg with re-encoding
Hi guys – I just got Vegas 9 after spending time using Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 11 and deciding not to upgrade to 12 and try Sony’s professional editing product. While it is rather astounding how detailed you can edit (and fantastic) it makes the simple tasks difficult if you’re just beginning to use Vegas.
I have a few videos that were shot in mpeg, 720×480 I believe, and wanted to just cut out pieces, zip the remaining together and create files to put on a DVD. In Pinnacle it’s rather simple (I think it’s made for semi-pro editing, mostly consumer). I’m not sure whether it rerenders, but since the files are in DVD ready format, I’d hope to zip the parts together without taking all that time to rerender video and also the loss in quality. Is there a way to do this if the source material and destination file remain in the same format quality?
Second, I’d appreciate it if any of you guys could point me to some good video tutorials for Vegas 9 and DVD architect. I’m going to look at what I’ve downloaded (I got the downloadable product) and see what I’ve got there. So far my feeling is that once I get used to using Vegas 9, I might not want to even think about touching Piannacle again or upgrading the product. Perhaps best given to my brother as a gift! Thanks in advance and looking forward to participating in this great forum.
