YouTube video in Sony Vegas 7.0
Posted by Mike Haggerty on April 7, 2009 at 7:04 pmIs it possible to insert a youtube video in a Vegas 7.0 project? If so, how do you do it?

You tube video you are gonna import will be in
the flash format….and Vegas does not work with this format.
So your best option is to use another software (video convertor)
to convert it to a format vegas reads well, example AVI, DV,
Quicktime etc…Then you can import it in vegas to do your edits.Steve Rhoden

You can use a site like https://www.keepvid.com to save an mp4 file and then just drop them into Vegas. Every once in a while I’ll get a bunch of green pixels and errors, in which case I use Sorenson Squeeze to recompress the mp4 which fixes the problem for me. Steve is right that Vegas will work better if you dump it to a DV formatted avi or quicktime though. It’s handy when people want to share clips and things but please be mindful of any copyright issues.
