YouTube Compression
Hello,
Step by step, what are currently the best settings to compress a video for YouTube using the Adobe Media Encoder WITHOUT needing an additional plug-in?
Some people suggest a flash file.
Some people suggest quicktime using the H.264 codec.
Some people suggest quicktime as a photo-jpeg.
Some people suggest using Windows Media Player.
What is the best, and what should the exact settings be?

I banged my head on this, too. I’ll be brief and tell you that the best answer to youtube or e-mailing video files of any size is Sorenson Squeeze. I swear by it. The results are amazing. You can take a 100 mb file down to 5mb with great clarity. And everything out of Squeeze looks good on youtube as well.
Take it from somebody that never got great results from Premiere for the web, Squeeze is a great way to go.

Personally I export a DV AVI and use Quicktime Pro to convert it.
I suggest that you try exporting Windows Media at the highest data rate you can (within reason) and still fit in under the rules.
