Activity Forums Avid Media Composer Your system is not licensed to run this software

  • Your system is not licensed to run this software

Posted by Marty Barsnack on April 9, 2009 at 12:51 am

I just up graded my G4 desktop to OSX 10.5 and installed Avid Media Composer 3.0 ( which requires 10.5 to operate on). Plugged in the dongle and when opening the program got the dreaded ” Your system is not licensed to run this software ……”. I checked the forums to see if there was any solutions, but could not find any that clearly solved the problem. Has anyone found any solutions for this?

    Thanks for the help,
    Scooter

Did you update your dongle? What version of Avid were you running on the G4? Run a dongle dump and see what version your dongle is licensed to run.

Found my problem…. not enough memory. I solved that issue, but now I get this “bus error” in thread “Main Thread” at address Oxbfffe740 box that won’t allow me to open the software?

I found that my system needed more memory, but now after adding the required memory, I won’t open an gives me a: “bus error” in thread “Main Thread” at address Oxbfffe740. Is this referring to my systems bus speed? My G4’s Bus Speed is 167MHz.

    Thanks for the help,

Thanks Michael! I actually found out that I needed to upgrade my memory. So after upgrading that, the Media Composer starts to open, but just as it does, I get a message stating: “bus error” in thread “Main Thread” at address Oxbfffe740. Then it quits out. Is this refferring to my systems Bus Speed? My G4 is running a Bus Speed of 167 MHz.

    Thanks for the help,

  • Did you completely uninstall any previous Avid versions prior to installing the new one? If not, uninstall then reinstall. That will often fix the types of problems you’re running into.
