I’m having a strange problem on a variety of systems….they just seem to be running slower than they were about two weeks ago. It really feels like the twighlight zone, becuase it is too many systems in too many places that are doing very different things, but it all seems like they are slowing down.

I’m just looking for confirmation that I’m not losing it or making stuff up. Anyone else experiencing unexplained performance probs?

We have noticed different problems with 25+ G5’s since updating to 10.4. General office and editing stations are affected. Also getting a lot more beach balls on the dual 2.5’s and 2.7’s. Our most stable FCP systems are running on 10.3.8.

Systems will often slow down after a major upgrade of the OS. This is because everything else is made to run on the older system. So, you need to upgrade just about everything else to match the new system. But, you need to do it in the right order.
Upgrade the OS, upgrade QT, updrade FCP, then upgrade the other applications in the FCP suite.

This is for FCP of course but the same thing goes for other applications that may be running slow.
