your system has run out of application memory
I bought my Mac Mini because it was all I could afford, and, it got rave reviews for its speed. Now, i’m constantly getting this error and can’t even open a file in AE. Is anyone else having this problem, and what can I do to fix it? I’ve already assigned a folder on my external drive as my scratch disk.

What kind of project are you trying to open and how much RAM do you have?

I have the 8GB of RAM with this model. Yes, I restarted, and yes, I purged everything off this hard drive and moved it to the external. I’m trying to run an update, and I’m being told I don’t have enough disk space to even do that…

I got on with Apple. It seems their new Music Player defaults to copying media files to the main hard drive. I changed that Preference, moved the files to my external hard drive, deleted them from the MacHD, and managed to update all the latest Adobe apps and start AE just fine.
