“Your GPU Memory is Full”, but Resolve continues to render
Posted by Duke Sweden on September 27, 2017 at 2:28 pmI expected to get that error message since I was doing an experiment with Neat Video on 4 clips and timeline set to 4096×2160 DCI. I don’t know if someone will answer this before the render is complete (55 minutes left), but is Resolve actually rendering or will I get an error message at the end saying render could not complete, or words to that effect?
Kind of odd that I don’t have enough VRAM yet Resolve continues to render.

As if there weren’t enough mysteries. Although it is important, your onboard RAM is not that significant; it is the GPU VRAM statistic – in your case, 4GB – that is causing this warning. Stacking up several frames of 4096 on a single 1050Ti is going to exhaust that resource very quickly, and that is what is happening if you are adding a third-party OFX plugin.Your render probably won’t crash, but the frame rate is obviously in the dumpster.

September 27, 2017 at 2:51 pmJoe, I already knew about the lack of VRAM. My question was, will I have a successful render when it’s done, since it’s still rendering. I’ve only got 1:44 left to find out.

October 27, 2017 at 8:07 pmI had the same error messages then used this plugin. But I had some frames rendered with artifacts. So be careful.

October 28, 2017 at 3:45 amI actually created a VBScript that clears my RAM cache without having to reboot. Just right click and “open in command prompt”. Happens instantly and it frees up all my RAM. I then do my render which so far has gone off without a problem, even when tested with heavy tweaks. And I do mean heavy.

October 28, 2017 at 3:14 pmI’ve had it happen both ways…renders that worked, and renders that were all glitchy, so just double check.

October 29, 2017 at 11:35 amThanks, Glen. I always do. Again, I’m just a hobbyist, I don’t have clients waiting on me, and my videos are usually no more than 4 or 5 minutes long. Easy to check for glitches and stuff. Cheers!
