You Tube-like on-screen time status
Not sure if anyone has done anything like this, but I am going to ask anyway.
For the museum here, we have created a series of what we call “talking labels.” Basically they are HD monitors installed into the exhibits teamed with small video servers for playback. The servers are controlled by button panels that allow museum visitors to read a question and then choose which baseball player or Hall of Famer they want to hear answer the question.
Here is the issue: The buttons are programmed to lock-out subsequent button pushes until the current playing video is complete. This keeps kids/visitors from pushing multiple buttons just because there are buttons to push. What I would like to do is add a little “you-tube-like” time status bar at the bottom (or even side) of the screen that would show the time status of the current playing video and let visitors know about how much time is left before they can view another video or move on to the next exhibit.
I know that I can create an effect for each of the 24 different videos that could count down and/or move an indicator along a status bar, but I was wondering if there was some sort of template, or any other easier way that I can just drop an effect onto each production and have the status bar created?
Any suggestions are welcome….and you are all welcome to visit this great museum here in Cooperstown, NY!
