Back in the day, when I was a junior editor, the senior editor was making some concert promos for the state fair. The band in the promo was Hall & Oates. He Chyron’d it ( and I verb that brand name specifically) as “Haulin’ Oats”. He was mostly into country music. Also, he just barely had a GED.
We didn’t have the gear to fix it on the one-inch masters, so had to take it to a bigger shop and have them paint it out of the A/B-rolled composite using an early Quantel paintbox, at considerable expense.
I got to do the promos for the years following. It was like the Second Coming when CG’s and NLE’s began to come with spell checkers.

It doesn’t matter… I see typos often enough to say “all the time” on network affiliates here in LA. Spell check gets the word right, but if it’s the wrong word… 😉

August 5, 2014 at 8:03 pmSpell check comes in handy. If the word is misspelled it will tell me sew otherwise it is write. As long as I do not have two many misspelled words then all is fine otherwise I am sew wrong and that is just to bad.
This show don’t git no bettar than this. After all it maid the netwerk happy and are audioence is wow, like wright into it. I did gaduate from colege and got my degree in english. I graduwated at the top of the class, that is like to cool for werds.
