yet another out of memory question for ya
so, as far as I have been reading FCP love to throw up the out of memory error just for the hell of it… it can be from cmyk, to HDV, to long timelines, corruptions, etc…
here is what i’m seeing all over my facility:
we utilize quad G5’s with a minimum of 3gigs of ram, and a couple intels when we need it. The OSs have been newly installed and the projects and the sequences are brand new. I ingest a clip, briefly chop it up and add some dissolves, edge wipes, and speed changes… upon 10 minutes or so into a render it comes up the an out of memory error. if i take the exact same project over to an Intel with the same amount of memory etc… I won’t get the out of memory error- apple says something about the intel being better adjusted for FCP… so are they saying the messed something up in the G5? I’ve done well to isolate the basics, no corrupt media files, no corrupt sequences, no corrupt RAM, no corrupt project files, no bad hard drives, different sources of storage (xraids, infotrend boxes, hugedrives, etc), different qlogic switches, different ATTO fibrecards… i’m leaning towards FCP inside the G5… what do you guys think?
thanks,
Jordan
